Proposed Electric Scooter Regulations VoteSan Diego City Council's Public Safety & Livable Neighborhoods CommitteeWednesday, October 24, 9:00 AM202 C Street, 12th FloorSan Diego, CA 92101
This emerging form of sustainable transportation has popped up in PB over the months with many users enjoying the convenience.However, many have concerns about the impact on local rental shops in addition to safety of users and those sharing the boardwalks, roads, and sidewalks. With scooters and bikes being left unattended in the public right-of-way, issues can be created for pedestrians and the disabled/wheelchair-bound.California Vehicle Code requires Electric Scooter riders to:
Be at least 16 years oldHave a driver's license or permitNOT ride doubleNOT ride on sidewalksWear a helmet (until Jan 1, 2019; when those 18 and over will not be required to, thanks to Todd Gloria and Bird Scooters)?
Hundreds of e-scooters are "staged" on PB sidewalks every day?The City of San Diego gets virtually no revenue from E-scooters? (Just a $100 business license fee from each company once a year.)What you can do:Email your comments and concerns to City Council Members, the Mayor, and other City Officials (see email addresses below)Email list for Mayor, City Council, City Attorney, Police Chief David Nisleit, and Lorie Zapf's Aide, Monique Tello: (Copy and paste this list into a new email)kevinfaulconer@sandiego.gov; loriezapf@sandiego.gov; davidalvarez@sandiego.gov; barbarabry@sandiego.gov; ChrisCate@sandiego.gov; myrtlecole@sandiego.gov; christopherward@sandiego.gov; markkersey@sandiego.gov; scottsherman@sandiego.gov; georgettegomez@sandiego.gov; cityattorney@sandiego.gov; dnisleit@pd.sandiego.gov; mmtello@sandiego.gov;
